Every once in awhile I get away from the soccer field and work on shooting something different. My wife and recently celebrated our 25th Anniversary by spending 5 days in Newport, OR. You know the place made famous when a certain Orca whale went through rehabilitation back in the ’90s. Yup, Keiko or Free Willy as my kids know him.
We chose this place because I really wanted to take my wife back to Hawaii but when I saw how much it cost we settled on Newport. Not much different there is sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets just no palm trees.
A key feature of Newport is it’s two lighthouses which are both very cool to visit. Next to shooting Soccer I would have to say shooting lighthouses is my next favorite. I am hoping to make a couple trips to a few lighthouses in Washington sometime this summer.
The Yaquina Bay lighthouse is open to the public for free.
The Yaquina Head Lighthouse costs $7 to get into the park and well worth since it gives you access to the coolest rock beach I have ever seen.
